One of the biggest courses in the world and the most famous in South Africa, it consists of very flat parkland but is quite difficult due to its many water hazards and numerous trees bordering the course.
Since 1981 home of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, a million-dollar tournament, among the winners Severiano Ballesteros and Sergio García (twice).
LOST CITY GOLF COURSE
Designed by Gary Player, in desert style, populated by cactus plants and many water hazards. Spectacular views. Hole 13 deserves special mention with its live crocodiles, some more than 2m long!
WESTLAKE GOLF CLUB
The most famous course in Cape Town, with enormous trees bordering all the fairways. However the paths are very wide, making it a suitable course for players with a high handicap.
CLOVELLY COUNTRY COURSE
Located in the picturesque valley of Clovelly, Cape Town and surrounded by mountains, this golf course features many sand dunes and natural water hazards. You will share the course with a host of native flora and fauna. It is indeed a peaceful haven here.
ERINVALE GOLF COURSE
Designed by Gary Player and considered the best course in Cape Town, it is located in the most famous wine-growing region in South Africa. In 1996, seat of the World Golf Cup. Watch out for hole 17, it is a true test of nerves for any golfer.
Play is downhill from high tees. The course is big and narrow, flanked by tall pines on one side.
